Bernice A. Hopkins

On Saturday, April 20,2024 Bernice Hopkins was granted her angel wings. She peacefully left with the angel of silence to a land that is free from sickness, sorrow and pain.
Bernice was born on September 2, 1933 to the late Jerry and Margie Hartwell Alvin in Neeses, South Carolina. She was the 8th of 9 children and the last living child. She attended Rocky Swamp Colored School in Neeses, SC. The family moved to Orangeburg so she can finish her education in the Orangeburg Public School System. She attended Claflin University.
At an early age she gave her heart to the Lord. She was a long time member of New Beginning United Methodist Church, formerly Pleasant Branch United Methodist Church. She was an active member of Eastern Star, United Methodist Women and Senior Choir. She was also affiliated with many other church organizations.
She was married to the late Rev. Hopkins. As a great story teller she loved telling stories to her family. She had a wonderful soul and spirit that allow her to easily make strangers friends. She loved gardening and loved to dress. We truly will miss her and the way she made everyone laughed at her jokes and stories.
She preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband and siblings.
Bernice leaves to cherish her fond memories two nephews raised in her home: caregiver, Arthur (Barbara) Felder of Cordova, SC and Terry Michael (Sandra) Felder of Hampton, VA, one niece raised in her home: Frizeal (Frederick) Brown of Cedar, TX, and a host of great nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends that will miss her dearly.

The service will proceed as follows:

The viewing will be held on Wednesday, May 1,2024 at Glover's Funeral Home from 1:00pm until 6:00pm.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, May 2,2024 at New Beginnings United Methodist Church 216Willow Swamp Rd Norway, SC 29113 beginning at 11:00am. All those attending service must wear a mask and adhere to all COVID-19 rules and regulations.
